I haven't used WMP in Windows 7 yet, I replaced it the Media Player Classic as soon as I installed Windows 7.

Did PCwiz redo scoring again?
I've got a new video card and ran the test again, I scored only 36k this time

Hey guys, another update.
Had to re-install windows 7, had a virus and it was the simplest solution. My storage drive wasn't infected (thanks to using separate hard drives, as the virus stayed on that one drive.)
Updated the OP some, my new GPU is a GeForce GTX 465. I've had it since that last post, today I decided to overclock it. I figured i've owned it long enough now to do that.
Usually when I buy a new component, I like to wait a bit and make sure it'll work right for a while before I overclock it.
I ended up installing windows on an older drive, with speeds that are about 1/3 the speed of my Samsung drive. So it brought down my performance a bit, but it works for now.
Also overclocked my processor a tiny bit more. Brought it up to 3.6Ghz. Not bad when it was originally 2.8Ghz.
My PCWizard 2012 score came out to a little over 3900, they keep remaking the scoring system. I'll try to run 2008 version but it doesn't even recognize Windows 7 as an operating system, so I doubt it'll work

Edit;
PCWizard '08 will run on Windows 7, however, it gives an error about running 64 bit. At the end, when comparing the '08 result to '12 results, my memory was given a score of 52xx in 08 and 74xx in 12.
Still, my original score listed in this topic is 43k. I posted it years ago, using windows xp, 2gb of ram, my old hardware, etc. My new score, using '08 on Windows 7, is 45k. I'll mess around and see if I can get it to work right.

The first step for PC performance tests is restarting the OS. At least it is if your trying to actually end up with repeatable reliable results.

Plus the second time I run PcWizzards benchmark without a reboot it often will cause it to crash in the same manner I keep reading about.

I usually do restart before benchmarks.
I ended up getting a new harddrive to replace an old one i was using temporarily.
Old one was a Seagate Barracuda 120Gb. The read rate was only 45Mb/s with it on average, painfully slow for how fast my computer is.
My Spinpoint F3 1Tb averages a 100Mb/s read rate in comparison.
Newegg had a deal on a 250Gb Spinpoint F3 for $50. A bit bigger than I wanted, considering I only want it for windows, but the price is good and it's speed matches my other one. It also has very good reviews.
I've already put it in, copied windows over. I'm defragging it and optimizing it now. I ran a read test, it's at 100Mb/s, the same as my other F3.
Even with the drive fragmented from cloning windows to it, it booted atleast 3x as fast as the old drive. I'm very happy with it so far.
I really have to recommend a program I've been using for cloning drives, it's called XXClone. I've cloned two Windows installs so far and its worked very good. It's also free.

Updated the original post. I ended up changing my vid card to the original clocking, and put my cpu back to the 3.4Ghz clocking

I like those F3 drives, fast for the price.
