Adobe Photoshop CS2

nice find! :D

ehhmmm... got a question, could someone please "translate" this how-to from PSP9 to CS2, please???

No can do here. Can't translate from PSP because I don't know how to use it .

But maybe I can at least get you started. Just a few basics for now.

Bear with me, as some tools I use are missing or moved in this version versus V5.5:

TOOLS (see HELP menu items for proper usage of):

.

Loading, editing and saving a stock .TIF from EVO2:

First step after loading is to change the image from INDEXED (256 colors) to RGB mode (16,000 colors) to make all tools accessable (MENU: IMAGE/MODE/RGB COLOR). Once you do so, the ALPHA channel will appear in the CHANNELS window at lower right:

Click on it to see/edit the ALPHA layer. Click on RGB to see the main layer again:

.

Do your paint work now using the various tools. See HELP menu for instructions. And have fun!

.

Finished? Ready to save it?

Before saving your .TIF, change the image back to EVO-compatible index color mode again. When the INDEX COLOR window appears, select OK with the choices seen here:
(.BMP and .JPG images should be saved in RGB mode for maximum color detail - .GIFs and .TIFs must be in INDEX mode to save)

.

If there is more than one layer to your pic, merge them using FLATTEN IMAGE now before saving (MENU: LAYER/FLATTEN IMAGE)
(some formats like .PSD can be saved with multiple layers, but .BMPs, .GIFs, .JPGs and .TIFs cannot).

.

Creating the alpha channel by BigDOGGe

It's a simple 2-step process...

1. select CHANNELS window
2. Click on CREATE NEW CHANNEL icon:

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

This is how I make an alpha channel layer in PS 5.5, but I believe it's the same steps when using Photoshop CS2.

Pretty nice tutorial for CS2, though i do see a few things to improve upon.
For instance, in the picture about converting to index mode, the settings may reduce image quality.
When I use those settings on my copy, texture quality seems to come out slightly worse than if i use;
Forced: None
Dither:None
