---- ERADICATOR 1998 Dodge Dakota ----
replica monster truck
For 4x4 Evolution-2
A long time in planning and creating, here it finally is. My replica of ONE OF THE MANY VERSIONS of Andy Slifko's ERADICATOR monster truck.
The real truck has been through countless configurations and more than one frame design, so I made a version that uses features of more than one truck. For instance, the truck with this particular paint/sponsor decal look didn't have downward swept exhaust pipes.
The cockpit was set-up in a manner similar to that used on a newer Erad truck. Limitations of available photos of the older truck forced the issue. Also, I used the bed support structure of a newer Erad truck on this one too. Hope you dont mind.
The truck is purchased without a body in Career mode. To add the body, purchase and install the skid plate from the APPEARANCE parts group.
THE BODY began life as a stock EVO2 game truck. The body model was highly modded for this project, fiberglassing the shell and installing separate window polygons. The wheel openings have been enlarged for the bigger tires too, and the truck shaped to match photos of the real machine. All original EVO2 texture files were tossed.
A replica of the Dan Patrick-designed steel frame of Eradicator was created and fitted to the body. One of my engine models was rebuilt to resemble Erad's, and the fuel tank and radiator installed as well.
Like on the real ERAD, the driver is protected by clear Lexan panels, both in front to deflect dirt & rocks flung up by erad's own tires and by other trucks, and in back behind the seating position to shield against hot fluids and anything else an angry V8 might throw at him/her.
The 18" travel coil-over shocks were made next, complete with remote nitrogen gas chambers, and fitted to all 4 corners of the chassis. Due to game limitations, the shock models do not actually compress.
Goodyear Terra Tires and beefy axles finished the modeling portion of the project.
Next came paint, all done from scratch using Photoshop 5.5 and lots of patience. Choosing which paintjob to do was interesting, as there are 3-4 variations of the green/red/white Dakota alone, if not more!
Much test driving and tweaking was completed to get the chassis in-tune. High-speed handling on cross-country offroad courses is excellent for such a large machine.
As is the case with the real truck, the replica of Erad does not have functional headlights/tail-lights. They are only simulated, painted on the fiberglass body.
Have fun with it!
( You may re-distribute this truck ZIP with all read-me files intact, but please do not modify and re-release the truck. Any part of the truck may be reused on other truck projects providing proper credit is given in both the new truck's description and it's included read-me file. )
