Hi everyone,

I found out that the GameCube version of 4x4 Evo 2 has racing vehicles exclusive to the same version. I've been thinking about extracting them from that game. Why? Because I want to know what it's like to drive them in the PC version of the actual 4x4 Evo 2 game, NOT in fan-made builds (i.e. 4x4 Revolution and 4x4 Evolution Revival). In other words, I do not want the latest patch for 4x4 Evolution Revival, which includes the vehicles I'm talking about (I'm not planning on playing it anyway).

I tried inserting the disc for this version into my Windows 7 PC's CD/DVD drive, but it would not recognize it. Is this process possible? If so, does anyone know how to do this? If there is a possible solution, please let me know.

Note: I originally asked this in the review topic for nfsgeeeek's "Calmini Race Frontier" truck, but I decided to ask it here since I believe this is the perfect section for questions like this.

Have you tried extracting them from the patch? Those should be easier to convert to stock EVO2 than Gamecube versions.

Gamecube games are not like your run of the mill PC game CD, just like PS and Xbox format games, they aren't formatted to run anywhere but their respective console.

I downloaded the new patch for 4x4 Evolution Revival, and in the TRUCK.pod file, the four GC-exclusive vehicles are inside.

I haven't extracted them yet because, first of all, to be EVEN more specific, another reason why I'm planning on doing this is because I would like to create a pack with all of those vehicles for the actual 4x4 Evo 2 game. But what I'm concerned about is this: Since whoever created the project had the ability to extract them. Do I need to ask permission first?

I will have to send them an e-mail message, but I can't find a respective e-mail address. Plus, this also means I'll have to give credit to the 4x4 Evolution Revival team (and of course, Terminal Reality!) if I plan on uploading the pack to this site.

Since most CD/DVD drives can't recognize GameCube and Wii discs, and since I don't have a special device that allows me to extract files from those discs, you and ~M.O.B~Jeepy84 are right; I'm going to have to "take liberties" with this by extracting them from the new 4x4 Evolution Revival patch and see if I can drive them in the actual 4x4 Evo 2 game.

The models/art for those trucks belong to TRI, and they are no longer in business. Just credit them and you are good to go.

Please note that, coming from the patch, they will most likely be in the new .TRK format with 4 wheel models instead of 2 and other new parameters, and most likely will require converting back to EVO2 standards.

They'll port back just fine. No special formats, or anything at all. I'm still finding a few differences here and there between the PC and final GC version. (Most recently noted, roofracks)
